My name is Whittling Jimmy and at the start of the year I decided to get into Whittling! I still have a long way to go on my Whittling Journey but so far I couldn't be happier with the progress I've made. 

Over the last few months I have been leaving behind Whittles in the park for passersby to find and keep.  From little mice exploring a log, to penguins fishing and owls in trees, I feel leaving these random gifts has allowed me to improve as a whittler whilst also giving me motivation to keep going.  In addition to the animals that I leave, I have been practising my faces, buildings and people. I must admit I've struggled with painting at times as I've also been learning that along with my whittlings, so that's also a huge element I've been trying to work on. 

Going for I love the idea of potentially one day doing some sort of trail, perhaps leaving pieces permanently throughout the park with a map for people to find them. That's still a while away yet, but hopefully one day I'll be able to do so. Since I started in January, I am also very eager for the Halloween and Christmas periods later this year as I imagine both will offer some great opportunities for some fun, festive woodcarvings. In addition to that, I have just done a mini competition where some lucky winners were able to choose an animal of their choice that I would whittle for them.
